Memory Quilts

NOTE: If you are coming here from Etsy, I will absolutely honor the prices listed here/below if you contact me through my website here, or Facebook. I have to mark my Etsy prices up much higher because of astronomical fees and being forced to roll in the shipping. Please just contact me via email or Facebook.

I had a hard time naming these quilts. All my quilts are memory quilts, but these tend to be used as memorial quilts the most often. I decided on memory quilts because of that, but please know, if you have lots of graphic t-shirts with big designs, you absolutely can get a t-shirt quilt and it still be a memory/memorial quilt! That said….

These memory quilts are wonderful for a variety of fabrics. As I said on the T-Shirt Quilt post, IF YOU WANT MULTIPLE QUILTS: I can usually only get 2 squares (if that) out of any piece of clothing for a t-shirt quilt. If you are having a memorial quilt made, and have limited clothing, you may want to consider my memory quilts (link coming!). These quilts work great with polo shirts, button up shirts, pants, jackets, robes, stretchy material, etc. They do not work well with graphic t-shirts with large designs, unless you’re ok with splitting that design up. Stretchy T-shirt fabric is absolutely fine, its merely for the design size. Shirts with only a small design work fine. I can usually get 4-6 squares out of each piece of clothing (unless they’re very small) with the memory quilts. The overall quilt is smaller, however, but if you need multiple quilts with a limited amount of clothes, this is the way to go.

As for sizing, I cut the squares for this quilt 9”. That means this is also an excellent choice if you want a quilt made out of children’s clothes that are too big for a Baby Clothes Memory Quilt and too small for a T-Shirt Quilt.

  • 12 squares, 51x63= $175

  • 16 squares 63x63 = $200

  • 20 squares, 63x75 = $225

  • 25 square, 75x75 = $275

  • 30 squares, 75x87 = $325

  • 36 squares, 87x87 = $350

Much like T-Shirt Quilts with sashes, you will choose fabric that surrounds your shirts. So, I will ask you what colors you’d like, and then help you choose 3 fabrics. One for the sashes (the fabric that goes between the shirts. Most people choose a neutral for this, but that’s not always necessary!), one for the cornersquare (the fabric square between the sashes) and one for the border (the fabric that goes all the way around the outside of the quilt)l. You can be as hands on or hands off during this process as you want. I will send you photos of everything I have on hand, and if you hate it all, I’ll go to the fabric store! My ultimate goal is for you to be happy. I know these quilts hold a lot of memories, and I want to make sure to preserve those as best I can.
